The Laws In The United States Do Not Proctect Us Equally

 

 

   

     America is built on laws. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence to insure that all men are created equally. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and pursuit of Happiness.” The laws are there to serve the citizens and the people of the United States, not by social class, race, and gender.

   Time after time, death after death, walkout after walkout, protest after protest, the Government has not listened to the citizens. Americans scream and chant together, sending out a clear message on what America needs, but America still refused to listen to their fellow people. Only causing people to question our government system, our laws, our justice system. Do the laws in the United States of America provided equal protection? 

 

   We can only conclude to the following answer, no because no changes have been made. The laws do not protect us. It does not serve us. The laws that are intact now are just boundaries and limits for people like us; minority, lower and middle class. It not longer serves us, but the police enforcement, politician and millionaires.

 

 

          However, throughout the protests and riots, Williams Yeomans, a former Justice Department civil right official said, "One big difference, and one thing I think makes this an easier investigation, is the existence of videotape. We didn't have that in Ferguson, and we would know much more about what happened in Ferguson if we had."

 

         If that were the case, would justice be served to Michael Brown?

         Eric Garner was choked to death by a white police officer on camera, screaming “I can’t                  breathe” 11 times. Given the fact that there was a video, no indictment was served to Eric                Garner case. What is justice? Why is the law there?  

 

               By definition, the role that the law play is to enforce the law and defend the

               interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety

               against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in

               preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of

               unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice

               for all Americans.

 

  Is the justice system serving white men or the innocent lives that these officers took?

  One once said, “several recent incidents that have tested the sense of trust that must       exist between law enforcement and the communities they are charged to serve and       protect."

 

 

 

 

 

 

      The 4th Amendment, “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

 

       Given the 4th amendment, our government break this law and secretly spy us. The National Security Agency (NSA) intercepting Americans’ phone calls and Internet communications which all of these surveillance activities are in violation of the privacy safeguards established by Congress and the US Constitution. On October 2013, Facebook reported to have about 500 million users. By agreeing to the term that most people do not bother to read, we are allowing Facebook to monitor us 24/7 without our permission. Disobeying our right, our 4th amendment.  Not only is justice system corrupted, but our human rights are also violated.

 

      We the people have the power over our government. We are the ones who elected these people into the office. Today, we have the power to change our future. We have the power to prevent people like Eric Garner, Mike Brown, Oscar Grant and many more from losing their life and for justice to be served. We need to send out a clear message that our government is corrupted!
